It’s known that a one size fits all approach rarely reaches all families and does not address barriers that may be preventing parents from successfully connecting with their child’s school. In a more targeted approach to engaging families of varying demographics and socio-economics, CMCSS designed a parent engagement model called, Family School Connection. We provide school-level and district-level opportunities for engagement and provide parents with various connector points.
School-level components are designed to help parents better engage with schools by assigning three positions that, aside from their regular duties, are dedicated to improving the parent engagement process. These positions include an information coordinator, parent ambassador, and volunteer coordinator. To view volunteer opportunities across the district, please visit the volunteer portal.
District-level components include an effort to improve communication with parents and improve accessibility to school and student information through PowerSchool, a digital calendar, EngageTV, and focus group meetings.
