It’s known that a one size fits all approach rarely reaches all families and does not address barriers that may be preventing parents from successfully connecting with their child’s school. In a more targeted approach to engaging families of varying demographics and socio-economics, CMCSS designed a parent engagement model called, Family School Connection. The model provides school-level and district-level opportunities for engagement and provides parents with various connector points.
School-level components are designed to help parents better engage with schools by assigning positions that, aside from their regular duties, are dedicated to improving the parent engagement process. You can view volunteer opportunities that are available in your child’s school and across the district by visiting the volunteer portal page.
District-level components include an effort to improve communication with parents and improve accessibility to school and student information through PowerSchool, a digital calendar, EngageTV, and parent group meetings. Please note, the digital calendar allows for subscription to areas and schools of interest to you. The system will notify you via email each time an event that matches your interest is posted.
This site is designed to provide parents with simple tools they can use at home to support the learning that is taking place in the classroom. We encourage you to visit the tips and resources page often.
